Welcome to our group website!
We are interested in applying principles of Biological Inorganic Chemistry to develop novel systems for selective C-H activation via activation of dioxygen and water oxidation.
Our research interests lie in the design and synthesis of earth-abundant transition metal complexes (Mn, Fe, Co, Ni & Cu) as potential Water Oxidation Catalysts (WOCs). We are interested in exploiting the rich redox properties and biocompatibility of the 1st row transition metals to achieve sustainable electrochemical/ photochemical water splitting under ambient conditions.
Another current focus lies in the synthesis and spectroscopic characterization of the metal-dioxygen intermediates using first-row transition metal complexes and dioxygen (or reduced dioxygen) and to explore their efficacy towards hydroformylation of olefins, cyclopropanation, aziridination reactions.
